E-Commerce demo site - under construction (20th June)
Here at Web Space Invaders, we're proud of our latest ecommerce solutions. We've put together bespoke software that can be tailored with custom front-ends, additional coding and artwork to make individual and distinctive commercial web sites. We now have four customers using the software, one already live and successfully selling online.
It's all talk without example, so with this in mind our next big creation with be "demo 4". Impressive-sounding and good in action! If you're interested in seeing how the ecommerce sites work from in front and behind, please get in touch. We'll be giving full administrator access to our demo 4 shop, letting you operate the back-end system of a fully implemented shop. You'll be able to upload products and photos, arrange the categories and product attributes. View and process incoming orders with a simulated payment system, through to despatch handling and notification. Hopefully it'll give you a feel for how easy it all is, and at the same time powerful.
The demo 4 system is currently in development but will be live soon. Watch this space...
SQL injection attacks on the increase (5th June)
Here at Web Space Invaders we keep a log of page errors and missing files as they are spotted by the web server. It's primarily for fault finding in form submissions and broken links, but in recent months there has also been a spate of SQL injection attempts picked up by the system.
We're performing an audit of all databases for possible issues but if your web site has suddenly taken-on annoying popups and javascript please let us know immediately! We take regular backups of the databases and can restore your original content prior to the attack. We also trace the path of the attack and plug the holes in old source code. The lessons we are learning ensure future code is safeguarded already!
Effective immediately we also redirect known SQL injection attempts using pattern-matching at the web server level. This combats the known issue across ALL hosted sites on our servers and as we encounter additional patterns we add them to our redirection setup.
Please call our technical support line if you have any questions about the steps we are taking and how they affect your web site.
Additional brochure web sites (7th May)
April was a busy month for us, with three more brochure web sites going live. They all feature a rich graphic design element and mark the employment of an additional designer/programmer to our team, Andy. Brochure web sites are simpler to implement and ideal if your limited number of services and products need advertising online without the cost of a full e-commerce solution.
New e-commerce solutions (28th April)
We're happy to have launched our new e-commerce solution featuring lots of ideas and tools designed to make online shopping sites easier for customers and site owners alike.
The first major site to use our new development code is Garden Machinery Direct (see out portfolio here), selling all sizes of garden tools and equipment with easy navigation, product filtering and superior administration options.
Many thanks of course to GMD for providing valuable feedback and suggestion whilst developing their web site. Their ideas and rigorous testing over the last few months have ensured a successful site launch generating sales since its first day online!

Another busy quarter (14th October 2007)
We've had a busy few weeks since the summer ended, and have updated our portfolio with some great sites we had the pleasure of building. Each one contains some very special features and rich content management, as more and more clients request the ability to maintain their own site content. All sites are built to order and professionally designed, but at the same time we get chance to add core technologies to our software routines that we can offer to future customers. If you have an existing web site, please let us know if we can extend its functionality.
Recent popular developments include embedded external news feeds, RSS export feeds and advanced document management systems.

See what the search engines think of your website (13th August 2007)
Here are some really useful ways of looking into how much link juice your website contains.
Use this format - site:yourdomainname.co.uk inurl:www
Some examples
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Awebspaceinvaders.co.uk+inurl%3Awww
(This is probably the most relevent)
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=site%3Awebspaceinvaders.co.uk+inurl%3Awww - (Yahoo! always looks different but is still relevent)
http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=site%3Awebspaceinvaders.co.uk+www - (Live.com, don't allow the inurl operator, so just use "www" this is likely to show you the important pages first)
This extremely useful for showing where your important link juice pages are and you can re-direct some of the power over to places that need it.
